    The Good Prince

    (Ash writes:)  Okay . . . the moment you've all been waiting for . . .

Last night, Josh was named Airman of the Year for the 56th Fighter Wing, the largest fighter wing in the United States Air Force.  He is number one of 1820 Airman, and he is still in absolute disbelief.

You should have seen this event.  There must have been 400 people in that dining room.  We were all dressed to the hilt and nervous as hell!  But the food was great and the company was even better.  So many great people showed up to support us.  At first I honestly believed that they were there just for him, but by the end of the night, when I was standing alone watching Joshua shake hands on stage, his coworkers and superiors took the time to congratulate (and calm) me.  I was hysterical:  laughing and crying all at the same time.  What a night.

For all of his hard work and dedication, Joshua has received a pile (literally) of amazing gifts.  We will be writing thank you cards for weeks to come.  We've got SO MUCH cash from different organizations and businesses on base; complete strangers gave us gift cards to restaurants that will feed us for two weeks straight; the commissary gave us a $250 shopping spree (which we'll be using to fund a party here at home, you're all invited!); and a three day, two night stay at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, Nevada.  That's not even close to all, the list is long, but here is the kicker:

A local Toyota dealership has awarded Joshua the use of any Toyota of his choice for one full year.  I completely lost it when they gave this announcement.

The caliber of these generous individuals cannot be described in words.  I cannot say anything that would be adequate to thank them.

I also want to thank everyone who faithfully supported us, you are the most amazing friends.  Your thoughts and prayers certainly did us a lot of good.

Most importantly, though, I must thank the Lord.  His will for our lives may not be clear to us in the current hour, but we have certainly been blessed by His graciousness.  We feel so undeserving of the gifts He has showered over us, and we devote this honor to Him; for without his love and guidance, we never could have accomplished so many wonderful things.  Thank you, Father, for your generous heart.  We feel lucky to stand as an example of God's giving nature.  Amen.

    Hey Ashley,
thanks heaps for writing back, its cool to hear from you after reading your story for so long! :-)
I applied for my SSN today and they told me I would get it within a week so praise God for that! As weird as it sounds, I am really looking forward to getting back to working, its been so hard being the "housewife" and not having a REAL job :-) I have been so bored just sitting at home most days with not much to do, in fact it was dangerous as I got used to being able to watch cable all day and I really fell into a state of depression and laziness where I would just stay in bed all day and then I'd feel really lazy and depressed cause I felt so useless. Thank God I pulled out of that and started a habit of walking to my mother-in-laws and using the computer, at least it got me out of the house and away from the TV. Thankfully, I should be able to get a job next week and start the one after!
I am going to apply at McDonalds for now, as there aren't many positions around here at the moment that interest me. I have never worked at a fast food place before so it should be an interesting experience. My first job was crop labour, my second and third were office jobs so I feel like I'm taking a step back but I know that God has a great plan cause every job He has led me to in the past has been a stepping stone to something new in the future. Its amazing how He has put together so many things in my past to prepare me for His plan. I could tell you so many amazing stories but Im sure you know just what I mean, being a christian yourself.
I agree that waiting on God and trusting Him with my life is the best thing right now, we are excited to see where God will lead us next and I pray that I can be open to anywhere knowing that His way is the best and I will be happy there no matter what. But what you said is true, it really is a test of faith to MAKE a happy life here knowing this is where we're meant to be right now, its been hard adjusting but I know its up to me to place my happiness in Gods hands and just look for ways to be in Gods will here. Its amazing how much I've learnt in the past year through our engagement and marriage and now living together...what a journey! Has it been hard for you adjusting to life with Josh on a daily basis? I feel good about us now, we certainly still have our disagreements but both of us have been trying very hard to compromise and sacrifice for each other and Im so proud of Jon for putting me first and trying to change habits for me.
I havent even tried to change my name yet, I really want to but with all my visa applications, I've had to use my birth name as I will have to go through all sorts of hassle to change my passport and other ID and stuff so for now everything is my family's name. But as soon as my visa gets issued I will start the process of changing everything else...it sux though, I wanna be Kellie Rivera! Well I am on hotmail at least and other non-official things hee hee :-)
    Anyway I must go,
thanks heaps for getting touch with me :-)
By the way, that photo of Charlie with his "special face" is one of the funniest things Ive ever seen! It made me laugh, hes a real cutey. I love dogs, actually all animals, I have a degree in animal biology and hopefully will work at Australia Zoo with Steve Irwin (croc hunter) one day....:-))
    catch ya later

    Hey there Josh and Ash,
I know you have lots of people who chat to you and want you to see their site...just want to let you know you inspired me to create my website as I had an interesting love story to share with the world and now it is my connection to alot of my friends and family back home in Australia who dont get to talk to me that often...I got married 5 months ago to my wonderful Puerto Rican American and we're so happy together also. We live in PA now but I miss home alot.
Anyhow, we are christians also and love the Lord as you do, so I was just wondering/offering to email sometimes about newlywed issues for christian couples or whatever, its nice to share problems/situations with a couple in a similiar situation....I am 24 and Jon is 23.
If you have time, feel free to leave a comment on our space.
    Thanks for reading,
    Kellie
P.S. congrats on the award, thats so cool!! God is great! Enjoy your prizes...:-)
